Designed for cooling of rectifier units and other industrial equipment. “ETS Engineering” developed and manufactured a series of equipment for completing systems such as ” water-to-water “and” water-to-air”. All elements of the pipeline system (with the exception of dielectric inserts) and valves are made of stainless steel only. High quality pumps with automatic standby activation guarantee long-term continuous operation of the equipment. An advanced measuring system (temperature, pressure, conductivity, flow) allows to create an informative system for diagnostics and protection of equipment.
Water-to-water
For high current equipment, liquid cooling systems are used (the rectifier unit itself is cooled with deionized water) as the most effective. At the same time, the heated distilled water is cooled by industrial (technical) water in a water-to-water heat exchange unit. A water-to-water heat exchange unit consists of the following elements:
- frame, inside which all elements are installed;
- plate heat exchanger;
- two pumps (main and standby) with automatic standby activation;
- stainless steel expansion tank;
- ion exchange filter with standard format cartridges BB10;
- a set of valves;
- primary sensors (temperature, pressure, conductivity, flow).
Main technical characteristics of heat exchange units, produced by “ETS Engineering”:
- cooling capacity: 50 kW, 75 kW, 150 kW;
- rated flow of deionized water: 6 m3/h, 12 m3/h, 24 m3/h;
- dimensions: 2000 x 800 x 1800 mm;
- weight 650 kg.
In case of installation far from local control cabinet, the heat exchange unit can be equipped with a separate control box, measuring all the parameters, controlling cooling equipment and integrated with the main control system via various interfaces. When installed next to the main control cabinet, the heat exchange unit is connected directly to it.
The design with two plate heat exchangers (100% capacity each, in the figure on the right) allows switching from one heat exchanger to another while the unit is running. Than the heat exchanger could be removed for cleaning, without interrupting the process.
WATER-TO-AIR
In the absence of industrial (technical) water at the enterprise, a water-to-air cooling system is used. In this case, the plate heat exchanger is replaced with a water-to-air heat exchanger, or, as it is also called, a dry cooling tower installed outdoors and cooled by outdoor air. Deionized non-freezing coolant is used to avoid the possibility of “defrosting” the system when outside temperature is below zero.
The water-to-air heat exchangers of the rectifier unit 63kA, the other elements of the cooling system are installed in rectifier shelter.
